Elon Musk's New Endeavor Has People Skeptical. I Guess, As Above, So Below. But Whats The Real Purpose?

Elon Musk has been set on fixing L.A. Traffic and gridlock with underground tunnels.

A boring task compared to his previous endevours?

The Idea spread when Musk was bored, in very slow gridlock areas of his commute. He sent a tweet about digging his way out of traffic. With that much time to think, ideas are born. Right?

But was it a spontaneous Idea, that he must now follow through with, or had he already planned to do so?

With gridlock taking hours of each day away from people, the natural next step is to want to figure out a way to avoid the huge waste of time.

But it seems Elon Musk is the only person with enough drive, bravery, and resources to get the job done.

Or was he hired to? Not much details have been presented before this initial tweet, but I am sure in time we will come across at least one instance of him mentioning it prior.

As with any project Musk seems to work on, It is coming to fruition faster than we could imagine.

After his first tweet in December, come Febuary, Musk began digging an experimental "demo tunnel" in the SpaceX parking lot.

Maybe his first tunnel will be from work, to his home. The pleasures of being Elon, I guess.

Since there are no needed permits to dig on private company property, but he would need to get them from the city of Los Angeles should he want to dig beyond his research facility. His Project now has a website with a concept video that seems futuristic, and shows off pics that prove the first fully branded drilling machine of the Boring Company.

The above image and recent concept video, along with a website for the project helped in alleviating any doubts people have.

When Musk spoke on the topic, he called it “a really simple and obvious idea.”

Later, he explained to Bloomberg that he considers it a more practical solution to traffic than flying vehicles, which would require more infrastructure and regulations.

When you can create things like Tesla motors, and have been hired to colonize Mars, you should not have to waste hours of your precious time, sitting in traffic, right?

Well the solution is not here yet, at least not in practice, but in theory, he seems to have it figured out. But will this delay his trips to Mars? Probably not, since he has separate teams to complete both tasks. I would hope.

And yes it will be boring. The most boring company to be exact. I know that boring means to dig holes in the ground, but is that really a good name, The boring company?

Maybe it works because the irony is that it is actually quite exiting.

It may not be as advanced as SpaceX’s plans to colonize Mars, or Tesla’s ability to power self-driving cars, or Neuralink’s goal of merging our brains with machines.

But when you watch the concept video, just released on the recently deployed boring company website, you realize this technology is far from being boring.

Concept Video

You just bore tunnels under current roadways, it's simple right?

But the difference between current underground roadways, and this tunnel system, is that your car is transported on a rail system that can accelerate up to 124 miles per hour. (200km/hr)

An elevator shaft brings one car at a time to an automated tunnel system that pushes it to its destination, kinda like a one man subway. But it is not limited to cars,as the video depicts it being used for small carpooling vehicles. It could even work with public transportation.

Of course the vehicle in the concept video is a Tesla, why not promote both companies at once, right?

One things for sure, Elon Musk is all about efficiency, and he gets things done.

The projects current goal is to help stop LA traffic by creating a network of underground tunnels that everyday cars can use.
But the sky is the limit, once other cities see this working.

Look at how we use subways in almost every major city. It is almost one of the staples of a major city. Just like railways across the earth seemed like an insane Idea years ago, I get why people may doubt the practicality of an elevator shaft for commuting to work.

I can't help but wonder if this is the only reason he has the machine.

I mean if some billionaire secretly hired him to build underground tunnels, or shelters, I would not be surprised. They are already hiring him to get them to Mars, would it be such a long shot to believe someone does not like the way things are going on this world? At least on the surface?

Musk is a true Pioneer, he has his eyes set on exploring our physical world from above, and below. It is with minds like this, that create the future.
